The Garden Fair
My child has been responsible for watering the plants this year. We both grew them from seed together, but she has been the water hauler. She killed my hanging baskets, since she thought a lick of water was more than enough. (It wasn't.) She was able to enjoy the fruits (or veggies) of her labor yesterday when the basket of vegetables that she turned in for this years Garden Fair won a 1st place in her category.
After school on Thursday, I carried the basket as the picked every ripe vegetable she could find. She wrote her tag and on Friday morning, we got up early to pick collards, two types of parsley and some chive tops.
I spent a lot of my day explaining what ground cherries are. Many of the teachers tried them and liked them. :)
It is Saturday and I find the need to contend with laundry, do a quick food inventory and visit the local grocery. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, but K and I are battling allergy nose (despite taking allergy meds.) She's pulling for a Brady Bunch Marathon for later. I may have to take her up on it!
Have a great weekend!

That is a gorgeous basket! Well done, K!
Yay for 1st place!!!
Our garden was dismal this year. We got only 3 tomatoes on 4 plants. The rest were all black spotted. I think we got too much rain.
There's always next year :)
