Wordless Wednesday: The volunteer

A volunteer Rose of Sharon.  A gift from the birds.  The neighbor across the street has the same one, so the seed didn't need to travel that far.  Still, quite a nice delight!

Smiles in my day:

-  Having breakfast with my mama this morning before work. I had intended to visit after work, but Hubs' car repair list lengthened and to take a break, he decided to take his dad to see The Expendables. 

-  Being able to purchase the last 4 Madame Alexander Happy Meal girl toys for K-.  They do sell the toys minus the meals, which is great.  Hubs' family has collected Madame Alexander dolls since my sister-in-law was very young.  They have started K- a collection and each time the MA dolls reappear at McD's, we all work hard to get a full set for each girl.  It's almost like winning the lottery!

-  Doing a trial run on that 6:45 AM bit has been helpful.  Hopefully, it will be helpful for tomorrow.

Wordless Wednesday: Chihuly Ceiling Deliciousness

A surprise ceiling I found in the Himalayan display at the Franklin Park Conservatory and Chihuly Collection in Columbus, OH this past weekend. If I wasn't a germaphobe, I could have licked the ceiling. Oh, it was so delicious! And yes, the photo was taken on my cell-- an LG Neon.

Smiles in my day:
- The PTA officer installation ceremony. They have our kids come from their class to present us with a particular color of candle to represent our office.
- The teachers cooked us a delicious breakfast to thank us for all of our hard work!
- THE LETTER WORKED! I shook some people up in the school board and they are looking back over the numbers. Hooray!!!
- Ryan, my friend's husband that had a burst appendix this week, is doing okay. He took 4 long walks, but they are continuing to watch for abscess since he had one starting when they went in for surgery. He's holding his own, though.

Wordless Wednesday: Short-lived crabapple blossoms

The blossoms were gorgeous, then very rainy weather came in and knocked all of the blooms from the trees. We enjoyed their beauty for the short time that they were here, though!

Smiles in my day:
- Getting atagirls from our boss. She had written a letter to all of us letting us know "how proud they were" of us in regard to the show opening on Saturday. Later, another letter was sent around in regard to an issue that she had come up against at the end of last week. She hand delivered the note and let us know that it didn't apply to us. She told us that she doesn't stop in that often and check in on us not because she doesn't care, but because she knows that she doesn't have to worry about us. She knows that we'll do what needs to be done. We thanked her and my heart smiled big.
- I got a call at work today. "Is this Amy - - - ?" "Yes." "This is the school nurse at - - Elementary." [Insert concern.] "Yes." "K-'s teacher sent her down to me because her cheeks are really red." "Yes, well my guess was that she was just running around chasing the boys at recess." [Insert chuckle from nurse.] "That is EXACTLY what she just told me!" "K- is just one of those kids that get rosey cheeks. The warmer the weather gets, the rosier the cheeks become. Did you check her temperature?" "No." "Does she seem okay?" "Yes. Well, there was some concern since 5ths Disease seems to be going around." "Oh! Well, she already had that!" "Great! Okay then! Bye!" Glad that it was a false alarm! And yes, her cheeks do get that rosey when she is very active, very tired, or very sick.

Wordless Wednesday: The Horse That Needs a Hair Cut

Smiles in my day:
- I just got a call that my brother's job is going very well. That would be my brother, Billy.
- I had a productive day at work and made money to boot.
- Though I have a co-worker "stuck" in Switzerland, she is with a previous co-worker, so lodging isn't an issue. She'll be well fed and taken care of until she gets back to the states. Sadly, she is to demo leaded glass at the opening on Saturday. Maybe she'll be back in time!
