We took the crossing guard by surprise.

We haven't walked in a few months.  Truly.  It isn't that we're lazy, but with people not wanting/able to shovel the walks and what with the polar vortex bouncing up and down, it's been a hair beyond our weather lately.

Until today.

Oh, it was 19 F.  It was brisk.  K started complaining IN THE DRIVEWAY.  I told her that she needed to toughen up.  I had the backpack strapped to my person.  (With 4 books, folders and miscellaneous other stuff.)  She had her lunch kit strapped to her with Harry Potter in hand.

The path was nearly 100% clear.

There were large Hollywood movie flakes falling from the sky.

There was a light wind.

K's nose was running.

My thighs stung from the cold.

My cheeks are still cold and I came in about a half hour ago.

Still, how lucky are we to be able to walk the mile to school?  I mean, we have feet for walking, a path to go by and a neighborhood safe enough to do it.  We have clothes for wearing, ears for hearing and mouths for talking as we go.  This morning, we started chipping away at that spelling list.  It's normally what we work on while we walk.  This week is ei and ie.  She's doing surprisingly well!

We're back to walking.  Even Mrs. M is walking.  (She lives a few streets behind us.)  It's time to get up, get out and get moving.  The winter fluff needs to come off.  I'm happier when I walk.  It's a good way to start the day.

Have a great day!

I've been off my walking routine of late as well. I'm far grumpier as a result.

It was so so lovely to be able to get out and move last week! I hope we get to again this week. Bean was sick today, but maybe tomorrow...
